Description
Stainless Steel 304L Plates,UNS S30403, 1.4306/1.4307 SS Plates, 304L Stainless Steel Sheets Supplier in India
We Deliver The Highest Quality Stainless Steel UNS S30403, 1.4306 / 1.4307 & SS 304L Plates! Asiamet is a full line distributor of stainless steel 304L plates. We can offer various value added services such as cut-to-length, polishing, bending, rolling, shearing, manual or automated punching & forming, and welding (MIG, TIG & spot welding). 304L stainless steel plates are available in stock with Asiamet in various variant such as SS 304/304L/ 304H.
304L stainless steel is one of the most widely used and versatile type of steel. 304L stainless steel is often referred to as ‘corrosion-resistant steel’ – it does not stain, corrode or rust as easily as normal carbon steel. It is an austenitic stainless steel. It is less electrically and thermally conductive than carbon steel and is essentially non-magnetic. It has a higher corrosion resistance than regular steel and is widely used because of the ease in which it is formed into various shapes
Stainless steel 304L plate is used to manufacture products in a variety of industries where extreme conditions may exist such as marine, oil & gas, chemical processing, power generation, food processing, wastewater and other applications. Asiamet is a stockist, supplier and exporter of high quality stainless steel sheets as per ASTM A240 in various sizes and grades such as 304/304L, 316/316L, 321/321H, 347/347H & Duplex 2205.
Stainless steel 304 sheet is typically sold in the annealed condition and is available in 0.1mm to 6.0mm in cold rolled and hot rolled form. Our 304 stainless steel sheets come in both 2B finish and various polished finishes such as 2D, BA, No.1, No.4, No.8, 8K, Mirror and Matte, with PVC Coating.
Due to its anti-corrosive properties, stainless steel sheets have become essential in the composition of parts for the medical, tooling, mechanical and food industries. Stainless steel sheets are widely used in various industries as mentioned in the below table.
Difference between Stainless Steel Sheets & Stainless Steel Plates
The difference between stainless steel sheets and stainless steel plate is the thickness to which the metal is rolled out. Stainless steel plate generally has a thickness more than 6mm and stainless steel sheet has a thickness of less than 6mm, but greater than that of foil.
Unlike stainless steel plates, stainless steel sheets can be supplied in various finishes such as No.4 (Matte), BA, Mirror No. 8 and Satin finish. Stainless steel sheets are generally available in cold rolled form, with basic 2B finish, which is suitable for further processing in machines to obtain various finishes. However, stainless steel plates are generally hot rolled annealed and pickled (HRAP) with No. 1 mill finish, which is not suitable to process further to obtain matte or mirror finish.
Due to its anti-corrosive properties, stainless steel plates have become essential in the composition of parts for the medical, tooling, mechanical and food industries. Stainless steel plates are widely used in various industries as mentioned in the below table.

PREN for various Grades of Stainless Steel
What is PREN?
Pitting resistance equivalent numbers (PREN) are a theoretical way of comparing the pitting corrosion resistance of various types of stainless steels, based on their chemical compositions. In general, the higher PREN-value, the more resistant is the stainless steel to localized pitting corrosion by chloride. The elements which have a significant impact are chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen.
The formula used to calculate PREN is as below:
PREN = %Cr + 3.3(%Mo) + 16(%N)
PREN = 1 × %Cr + 3.3 (%Mo + 0.5 × %W) + 16 × %N

Alternative Grades to Stainless Steel 304L Grade
Features |
|
303 |
Stainless steel 303 grade can be used when higher machinability is needed, and lower corrosion resistance, formability and weldability are acceptable. |
316 |
Stainless steel 316 grade can be used when higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion is required, in chloride environments. |
321 |
Stainless steel 321 grade can be used when better resistance to temperatures of around 600-900°C is needed. 321 has higher hot strength. |
3CR12 |
Stainless steel 3CR12 can be used when lower cost is required, and the reduced corrosion resistance and resulting discoloration are acceptable. |
430 |
Stainless steel 430 grade is acceptable when a lower cost is required, and the reduced corrosion resistance and fabrication characteristic are acceptable. |
