  • Bring together a hanging bolt and a threaded rod, for example. Coupling nuts do function as spacers and standoffs, depending on the task. They generally work well in plumbing, electrical work, building construction and more.
  • You could even create a jury-rigged driving tool for hanging bolts by cutting off the head of a hex socket shoulder screw and then threading the body into a coupling nut. Finally, insert the shoulder into a drill and thread the hanging bolt into the opposite end of the nut.
